Over the Fence « Thread Started on Dec 28, 2007, 2:35pm »
Clouds were hanging low in the sky, casting a dark shadow on the sea near bye. But it was not the weather that facinated the orange cat on the shore... It was the white wooden border that surrounded the cloudclan territory. The green eyed she-cat couldn't understand why this fence was here in the first place, and was considering jumping over it to find out. Still, the unnatural shape of each piece of wood warned the young apprentice... It was made by two-legs.
Citrinepaw had never seen any two-legs in her life, and she hadn't ever tried to. From what she had heard from her parents and clanmates, two-legs were to be avoided at all costs. Her tail flicked back and forth as she paced along the edge of the fench, seeing how far it went. Her paws kicked up tufts of sand as she padded down long line of wood. It didn't end still, when she felt the sand underfoot change to grass. She'd gone too far, it was time to turn back. Any further, and she would have reached loner lands. Still the young cat wanted to know what was beyond the barrier. She though, for a second, that maybe her father was once a two-leg's pet, and hopped the fence into cloud clan territory. She shook the thought away, refusing to consider herself part kittypet.
Aware that she would get introuble from being so far away from camp, Citrinepaw increased her pace towards the shore, where she started. Once the white foam of the ocean was in view, she slowed down again, catching her breath. The orange cat didn't have alot of stamina, and could easily tire herself out. She sat down, watchhing the land beyond the fence, wondering if it stretched on forever. A sitting stance soon turned into a resting stance, as the cat's green eyes followed the birds who flew over the other side of the fence. Her eyes began to droop, the hypnotic rythm of the waves coaxing her to sleep.

DoveShine watched CitrinePaw from a good distance.
I wonder if she will ever understand...
She watched as seagulls passed over head. She could smell the fresh salt in the air, yet it didn't comfort her as much. She didn't see a cloud in a sky, yet she felt cooled by an awkward shade.
She shrugged it off and walked toward citrinepaw, "I will just watch over her, just in case." She couldn't keep the feeling from surfacing. She growled. It is OK, get a hold of yourself. You just need to calm down..
She watched the waves and couldn't help thinking of her loved ones. Her lost kits... her mate. But she still had her clan.... she was alone. Her sister... her mother and father... all gone. But she keeps their lives with her. She couldn't help but whimper. The lives she has now... all from the ones she loved but lost.
She lay down beside CitrinePaw, listening to the soft waves.

The orange cat, lost in her dreams, at first did not stirr when her leader lay next to her. In her sleep, Citrinepaw dreamed of waves crashing upon high cliffs that she was standing atop. The mist from the waves sprayed her, and chilled her. The sensation of the water wasn't pleasing, it made her shudder. The cloudclan waves weren't usually too big. Where was she?
Unable to look away from the sheer drop that was below her, Citrinepaw veered away from the cliff, eyes still fixed on the ocean. But, the groudn was wet from the mist, and when she raised her paws to step away, she slipped, and fell suddenly down, screaming as she neared the water and the painfull death that would await her.
The cat's eyes flashed open, the white wood border infront of her again. Shuddering, Citrinepaw realised she must of been thrashing arroudn in her sleep. The sand next to her was displaced and all over her fur. She was about to groom herself, when she finnaly noticed Doveshine next to her. Startled from the sudden appearance, and still shaken from the nightmare, the apprentice let out a hiss, unsure who the cat was.

DoveShine jumped as Ctrine let out a shocked hiss.
"It is OK, it was just a bad dream." She leaned over and liked Citrine's head. She saw the look in the young cat's eyes and she knew the ocean wasn't appealing at the moment to her either.
"What did you dream about?" She coaxed the young cat. She started grooming sand from Citrine's fur like a mother would.
She could still feel the shudder pass through her body into Citrine's. "Sorry... I am a little shaky too." She wondered if she should tell Citrine about her feelings toward the sky or not. "Citrine....." She stopped grooming out the sand and looked at the little cat, "There is something bad coming... I can feel it." She felt like she was going into shock before she could finish telling her feelings to the younger cat.

Citrinepaw let her fur lie flat as she recognised her leader, doveshine. Tch, bad dream? That was too real. The apprentice flattened her ears when the other cat licked her head. She didn't like being treated like a child, but was too confused about her situation to object. Citrinepaw tried to block out the other cat's voice, she just wanted to rest. But she couldn't just sit there and ignore her, could she? "It was just some wierd place... I dont know. Like, it had a bunch of cliffs and it was like, all reefy at the bottem of the water and I fell off the cliff."
She almost groaned when Doveshine started grooming her. She felt like a kit again, and if any of her siblings saw her like this, she'd be the laughing stock of the litter. Her olive green eyes narrowed. "Im not shakey... Im just cold." The orange she-cat lied. She was infact, very shakey. But once her leader started talking about someone other than her, citrinepaw calmed down a little. She could tell, even though her leader was trying to comport her, her leader was the one who needed to be comforted.
"Somethings going to happen? Like what?" Citrinepaw had to resist the urge to roll her eyes. She was supposed to be reassuring her leader, not making fun of her for worring about something.

DoveShine stopped grooming Citrine all together. "Sorry... I.. I didn't mean to make you feel like a kit again."
She shivered. Hopelessly lost in a horrible storm. She could tell Citrine was feeling as bad but she just couldn't get her words out any more. The clouds started moving faster... as if a she moved to the clouds center. She watched them in the middle. The coldest air she has felt blew over her. Like... ICE. *****
She snapped back to reality, "Storm..." She coughed. She shook, not even realizing Citrine was there watching. She felt as if she was spinning and spinning. She felt sick... almost like she was losing a life.
"S-S-Storm..." She growled and whinnied. What kind of storm? Two-legs? Ocean? Land.... What kind?
Her body trembled and finally she just collapsed and lay on the ground.

Citrinepaw turned away, and didn't try to comport the leader. This is hopeless, id rather have my MOTHER here than here. She flicked the tip of her tail. When she no longer heard Doveshine's voice, she assumed the cat had left. Much to her disapointment, the cat was still there, but she seemed to be loosing conciousness
The orange cat stood up on weak legs, and padded slowly over to her leader. "Yo'kay?" She asked calmly, trying to hide her apprihention. Citrinepaw sat down near her and flicked her with her tail, her leader seemed awake, but very weak. "A storm? Storms come all the time, don't stress." But Citrinepaw wasn't exactly convinced herself.
When her leader colapsed, the orange she-cat's eyes widened, and she frantically looked arround for help, but they were very far away from camp. She doubted she could carry the cat back to camp. Citrinepaw would have to wait for her leader to wake up.

DoveShine wasn't like bluestar... or any of your other strong leaders.... She can't take visions like they do. Her pain caused her to suffocate in darkness. But she does recover some what quickly.
Her fur stuck out and she awoke. She looked like see through blood made her fur Stick out un even. Her eyes glassy and pain showed. She didn't like it when her clan mates saw her like this, not at all, "Look away..." She growled, "I don't want you to feel alarmed." Her tone was still harsh but she had to make it that way so that she wouldn't show her fear.
*****
She finished cleaning her self with her eyes closed. Just in case Citrine had decide not to fallow her command.
She was still shaky but not as bad.
"Citrine.... DO NOT tell any one in the clan..." She hissed softly, "I don't want anyone to be alarmed... At the gathering I will talk to the other leaders and Medicine cats.... that is it." She went down to a whisper. "Just don't worry about your dream and STAY away from the cliffs."
Shine clan shared Citrines dream which was unusual. Especially since she asked. She growled again. "Please... stay way from the cliffs...."

Citrinepaw starred down at her leader and narrowed her eyes. She looked like she just got out of a shark's jaws. Her mother always told her that leaders were strong and powerfull, but right now, Doveshine looked anything but that. It gave the cat a sense of sick pleasure. She couldn't look away from her leader, incase she started having another seasure or something. The apprentice Sat down by her side.
The cat flattened her ears against her head, her long fur bristling. "Why in shineclan's name would I tell anyone?" The cat lowered her head and began grooming her chestfur. Mischiviously, the cat smiled to herself, hoping her leader still hadn't seen. Now that you've told me not to, how could I not check out the cliffs, she thought to herself, theres something there, I can feel it. A scent there reminded her of her father's, and if there was a chance to find out where her real kin lay, she would find it.
"Don't worry, I will stay away from the cliffs. I'd never want to go back to somewhere that I nearly died."

DoveShine shook herself off. She could feel her self recovering. "Sorry you had to see that." She didn't know if she could trust CitrinePaw to stay away from the cliffs.
I will keep watch of her when the storm arrives.
Her fur was soft and looked normal. It was almost hard to believe she went through a storm and back.
"Citrine... Be carefull...." She meowed, just the thought of losing her clan mate made her feel sick.
"I don't want you to get hurt... now if you don't mind.... i have to go talk to my medicine cat." She hurried off.
